The Hungarian Horntail Dragon
The Hungarian Horntail Dragon appeared in Harry potter and the Goblet of Fire. Harry Potter had to get past it in order to complete the First Task of the Triwizard Tournament.
It is the most dangerous of all dragons and has black scales, bronze horns and yellow eyes with vertical pupils. When attacking, it sports a screeching scream. It can also breathe out two jets of fire, which reach up to 50 feet and can combine into one very large and lethal stream. The Hungarian Horntail’s tail is lined with spikes which it uses to attack prey and defend its young.
The Horntail feeds on goats, sheep and humans (if they’re available). The shells of its eggs are very hard and are cement-coloured.
Hungarian Horntail Dragon Statue
This is an extremely nice Hungarian Horntail Dragon statue from Gentle Giant with a gorgeous sculpt, design and paint job. They’ve done marvelous work capturing the dynamic appearance of the Hungarian Horntail in mid-flight, ready to tear you to pieces.
The statue is 16 inches tall with a 21-inch wingspan, and extremely good sculpting detail. There’s some beautiful paint work here, with subtle details like the veining in the wings and the finish on the bony areas and leathery skin - amazing work that captures and holds your eye.
The wings have a nice slightly smoother leathery sculpt texture, while the body and legs are more scaly and wrinkled. The head is heavily armored with thick skin and sharp spikes down the back, and the individual teeth are frighteningly realistic. There’s some cool battle damage added to the wings as well, and an excellent flow to the dynamic pose.
The base has some terrific detail work too in the mossy rocks, and the little golden egg looks terrific. The statue is a limited edition with only 1,500 worldwide.
The Hungarian Horntail is a pretty amazingly detailed and realistic dragon sculpture. Gentle Giant deserves a tremendous amount of credit for creating an amazing reproduction of the movie character in an excellent, fluid pose.
